Message	0w is still way too thick at startup because it's so far outside its temp range--going to 10w is even worse. On an old engine, going from 30 to 40 can quiet things down because it's a thicker oil (although you'll have less flow). If you can find a 0w40 or 5w40, that's probably what you want. Both are better than 10w40 for wear.
